Class Size: Max 8 Students

Class Time:  6 to 8 pm

Class Cost: $110 for the month

This class is a recurring monthly class and students can choose to take one month or many months, based on their needs.  During the first class, new participants set up their watercolor palettes, create color charts, and learn how to prepare their watercolor paper for painting while returning students put finishing touches on previous paintings.  For the remainder of the classes that month, all participants work to complete 1 or 2 paintings .  Subject matter varies but often includes landscape, florals, buildings, and still life objects.  Don't let not knowing how to draw stop you from taking this class.  Participants have the option of tracing images or drawing from photographs.

This watercolor class is for beginning and intermediate students. Lessons include color mixing, building good compositions, pushing light and dark values, controlling watercolor, and masking and resist techniques. 

 

Students may choose to draw or trace images prior to painting.   Different themes will be chosen each month.

Class is $110.00 per month, due the first of the month. All supplies are included in class fees. 

​

This on-going Class has open enrollment; students may join/exit/rejoin the class as desired.

KARLA RESPRESS BIO

​

​Karla Respress holds a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Art Education from the University of Central Florida. She has been teaching in the Field of Visual Arts for 22 years, and is currently the Professor of Art and Art History at South Florida State College. 

 

Karla is an artist in many media, and especially enjoys acrylic, clay, and photography. Her artwork tends to emphasize texture, color, and the elusive composition.

 

She is married to husband, Ray Respress, a Renaissance man, who always comes up with the best solutions for her art problems. She has two children; Rayleigh (12), a creative who is a far better artist than her mom and Baby Ray (8), a naturalist, who sees potential in everything.

​​​Tuition pays for weekly sessions for

the selected month.

Because space is limited, we do not issue refunds or allow for makeup classes. ​

Class Location

Classes are held at SAC/Sebring Art Center - 1985 Lakeview Drive, Sebring FL 33870.  Please enter the building using the red door to the far left.

After completion of this course, check our web site frequently for newly released classes.

 

 Additional Art Link Studio time is complimentary with a HAL Membership.  The open studio is held on Tuesday from 10am – noon in SAC/Sebring Art Center.   Members should enter the building using the red door on the left.

 

Starting July 1, 2024 our pro-rated individual 2024 dues is $35 (regularly $60).  Please click on the MEMBERSHIP button to join.
