Student Eligibility for Member's Gallery
Eligibility
Any student with a current Highlands Art League membership is eligible to submit artwork for consideration for hanging in the MOTA (Museum of the Arts) Member Gallery. Membership is for 18 years +.
A member is considered a “student” if currently enrolled in a high school, college or university. Once graduated, the artist is eligible for regular membership status.
SPECIFICATIONS
Only original drawings, oils, acrylics, graphics, computer art, mixed media, fiber, sculpture and photography created by the student member may be submitted. A maximum of three pieces at
one time should be sent for consideration.
2-D works on paper, including photography, must be framed, wired, and ready to hang.
Paintings must be dry, wired, and framed or gallery wrapped and wired and sides of the canvases painted. NOTE: Work requiring special installation must be hung with the artist’s assistance. Pedestals will be provided for a limited number of 3-D work.
All accepted work must be properly identified on the back with Artist's Name, title of the work, retail price and Artist's contact information, All artwork must be for sale. The gallery will retain a 30% commission fee on pieces sold, so please price accordingly.
DIRECTIONS FOR SUBMISSION
Please submit via online submission form. All images must be .jpg files, and must include, without spaces and in upper and lower case, your name, underscore, and the entry title (EX: doe-jane_title-of-work) File Size: no dimension greater than 1280 pixels, or larger than 1MB.
Accepted Work:
You will be notified via email generally within a week after you submit your work online. Instructions will be given regarding delivery days and times.
The Artist is responsible for arranging delivery and pick-up of his/her work. Artwork must be picked up upon expiration of Student Membership status unless the Artist has renewed the Student Membership if eligible, or renewed as a regular member. Unclaimed artwork will become the property of HAL and MOTA after 30 days.
HAL and MOTA will not be liable for work in the gallery. HAL and MOTA reserve the right to reproduce work in the Member Gallery for use in promotions such as our website, newsletters and in other news media.
Acceptable artwork is limited to what can be displayed professionally at MOTA. The Gallery Staff reserves the right to exclude any item deemed to difficult to hang or inappropriate for exhibition.
