KIDS AFTER SCHOOL POTTERY CLASS

Young students will receive instruction on clay preparation, hand-building, and wheel throwing techniques, then use that knowledge to explore their creativity with guidance from experienced instructor Darian Dumont. Included in the fee is a starting amount of clay, an assortment of glazes, various tools, and firing in the HAL kiln. Students are asked to bring an old dish towel, apron, and 15 qt plastic tub with lid.

Darian Dumont Bio

Instructor Darian Dumont brings over 30 years of experience to HAL’s pottery program. After earning a BFA in Art from William Woods University and later a BA in Psychology, Dumont honed her technical skills as a production potter at several pottery studios in the United States. She is experienced in both hand-building and throwing pottery on the wheel. Darian Dumont has taught art and pottery in the public school system starting in the 1990’s and continues to teach her craft to adults and children at the Sebring Art Center for the Highlands Art League.
