Learn What Your Camera Can Do
Using the student’s own digital camera, this 3-hour, beginners DSLR photography class teaches the foundations of photography: aperture, shutter-speed, and ISO (pronounced eye-ess-oh). These 3 digital camera settings have been part of every camera – film and digital alike – since the very first photo was taken in the mid-1800’s. With an understanding of how these 3 settings alter the photo, the student will start taking better photographs and gain confidence in their artistic ability with images.
The class begins with a lecture (sitting down and relaxed) explaining the photographic triangle of aperture, shutter-speed, and ISO.
Students listen and take notes in a handbook which is theirs to keep and refer to after class. After the lecture, the class becomes hands-on as students begin taking photos.
During the session students review the photos with the instructor and discuss the results. With this new knowledge students take more photos – each photo building on the success of the previous one.
By the end of class students will have a greater understanding of aperture, shutter-speed, and ISO as well as how to adjust those settings to get the desired results in their photos. Class ends with one final lesson: how to properly practice and continue learning about aperture, shutter-speed, and ISO on their own.
