Artist Opportunities

Are you an artist interested in participating with Highlands Art League (HAL) showcasing your artwork and sharing your inspiration? Throughout the year, HAL provides several opportunities for you to showcase and share your work.  This page is dedicated to you, the artist, on the variety of opportunities HAL offers; please join us and take part in our mission to encourage emerging and evolving artists of all ages and to positively impact our community through the celebration and exploration of the arts.

Sebring Art, Wine, and Jazz Fest, Nov. 3-4, 2018

One of Florida’s longest continuously running art Festivals and the largest and most prestigious in the South Central Florida region drawing 5,000+ people to historic Downtown Sebring the first Saturday  in November to kick off the holiday shopping season. For over 50 years, this festival has provided a celebration of the arts in Central Florida!  Live music and strolling street theatre provide non-stop entertainment. Culinary offerings are provided by local restaurants and mobile food vendors.

HAL Artist Membership Benefits

Art Exchange at the Member Gallery in the Clovelly House

Our Members’ Gallery is scheduled to be reopened January 18th, 2018. Currently accepting artwork and volunteer applications. For imore information on reopening and volunteer opportunities contact the office at manager@highlandsartleague.org or 863-385-6682.   

Open Painting Studio Days

HAL members get together once a week (Tuesday mornings, 9am-noon; subject to availability) at HAL’s Visual Arts Center for informal painting sessions. Their artwork includes oil, acrylic, and watercolor, color pencil, and digital art. They enjoy camaraderie, “gentle” critiquing of each other’s work, share painting tips and secrets. New to 2018, HAL has added once a month evening Studio sessions (4-7 pm); dated TBD.

Artist in Residence 2018 Season

HAL’s AiR program provides visual or literary artists dedicated time, space and support to experiment and develop a new body of work in a creative community at HAL’s ‘Village Where Art Lives.’  Ideal candidates for this program are progressive artists who are self-directed, motivated, community-oriented and passionate about creating new work.

The 4-week, on-going program encourages career artists who embrace community and enjoy working in a team environment to apply throughout the year.  AiR artists receive dedicated studio and living space in HAL’s Clovelly House complete with an office and exhibit space.  At the end of the four weeks, both the artist and HAL have the option to extend the residency up to two additional months.

“Captured” 5th Annual Photography Competition

Highlands Museum of the Arts is proud to host, “Captured” the 5th Annual Photography Competition. 2017’s competition has been the largest to date; featuring 115 photos by over 20 different photographers.
