Yellow House Gallery & Gift Shop

Yellow House

The Yellow House Gallery and Gift Shop was the first house in the Village to be restored. It now houses the HAL members’ gallery and also provides gallery space to local artists. Visitors can shop, view art and watch studio artists at work. HAL offers a variety of artwork from our members and studio artists for purchase as well as a Fun Gift shop.  This house is a popular draw to downtown Sebring at our monthly artist receptions, which are every 2nd Friday.

Studio Artists

Grace and Cheryl Canada – Studio C

Watercolor by GRACE CANADA.  In 1957-58  at Kirkman Art School  in Chattanooga, Tenn. I studied art for one year.  Stephen Harding, the instructor,  would not allow his students to paint until they had a year of study in anatomy with pencil and charcoal.  You need the foundations in drawing before you can paint.  By then I had a job and worked, married, and raised my children with little time for art.  In 1999-2000 we moved to Florida, retired and ready for art. Charles and I spent  a summer or two scrapping paint off the yellow house in Sebring.   I have been in and out while Charles was ill and I am a member again.  “I enjoy painting so much and to me the big challenge is to make  a   subject as realistic as possible.  You cannot put life into a painting but I try to make things so like the way God gave them to us.  Our world is so beautiful if we could stop long  enough to portray it on paper, china, stained glass or canvas!”

Shellabration N Crafts by Cheryl Canada.  We can choose to see life through empty or broken dreams like pieces of seashells on the beach.  On the contrary if we can take these fragile broken experiences, piece them together, it will bring beauty.  Art brings peace and brightens our environment.  Come see how we Shellabrate with seashells.  Don’t let life toss you with waves of stress; find your interest, then jump into art and experience life to the fullest.
